"Professor", spoke RW, "I
couldn't help notice in your office. You seemed
well...rather sad. Is there a problem? Anything I can
do? I imagine the operation of this Institute places a
pretty heavy burden on you. If there is anything you
need that is within my abililies, I would be most
pleased to assist."
At RW's statement,
Cordelia looked at the Professor with unveiled concern.
"Professor, is their something you have
shared with me?", spoke Cordelia.

Professor Thietris, now that
I have rather put you on the spot, I'll let you take it
from here. Shutting down to head for the
house.
Your absolutly right Professor, that was
onery of me.
I just thought that
since Elkae put Boatingirl on the spot yesterday
followed by Jade/Veronica putting me on the spot, that
we should continue with you next. No ill will intended I
assure you.
Chuckles58 stood there for a minute
assessing the situation.
I'm in a rock room
with no doors or windows. The only things in the room
with me, aside from this linking book to this side of
the room, is a table and a mirror. Now how am I going to
get out of here?
On his cellphone once
again Yeah, honey, I may be a little late for
dinner tonight. ... Nothing really, I'll explain when I
get home.
----ten minutes later---- Opening
the door to his Takotah Alley office, Chuckles58 notices
a small package that was apparently slipped through the
mail slot in the door. He opened it.
My Relto
book! Hooray, I can go home tonight! What's this, a note
from the Bahro:
We love you Boss man!!! Hooray
for Mr. Chuckles!!! We'll see you
Tuesday!!!

It was a tired and troubled Old One
that entered the empty cell where Elkae had been. He had
been told of the capture of one of the humans who had
come here to rescue Elkae. Their persistence, even
though it was one of their own judges that had sent her
here, did not go unnoticed. Clearly, this was a very
special human being. But then, even with the little
contact he had had with her, an old slow badger could
figure that out.
The Old badger walked over to
the bed and taking out the Golden Kachina he had brought
back with him and returned it to the place under the cot
under the cot. It just was not as sweet without the
prisoner Elkae there to share it with. The tired old
badger went over to the ledge in the cell and had a
seat. Being honest with himself, he missed this human
woman. He didn't begin to understand her, what animal,
let alone a badger, can understand a human.
Most
of the time humans, whether they need to or not, want to
kill you because they fear you, kill you to eat, or
shoot you for sport. Still, the old badger thought,
there was something very special about this paticular
human woman, even if he couldn't define exactly what it
was. He wondered if she would return. He hoped wherever
she had gone, that she was doing fine. He may have been
given the thankless job of being her jailer, but he was
not heartless.
The old badger sat for some time
in that spot. Slowly, his breathing became rythmic, his
old head dropped, he fell off to sleep, and he dreamed.
Dreamed of being human, of Elkae, and of quiet walks.
Only the call of Shroomie broke the stillness, but not
enough to wake the sleepy old badger.

Kestryll strolls into the the prison
and spots the one creature he's been hunting hours for.
Unfortunately the Ancient Badger is asleep. He sighs and
turns around.
Standing in the entrance he waits.
Then he sticks his foot out. There's an 'EEEK!OOF!' as a
badger running past trips and lands on it's furry face.
The cone which was chasing it stops. Kestryll leans down
and whispers to it. It suddenly speeds off in the
direction it came.
Kestryll picks up the little
badger and brushes it off then sets it on it's feet.
Then he holds out the clipboard.
Delivery for
Ancient Badger. He's asleep. Would you sign here
please?
He holds out a pen. The badger stares
at the odd human then glances the way it came and the
same way the vicious cone had run away to. It arrives at
a decision, signs and runs. Kestryll
grins.
Spinning around he walks back into the
cell and carefully places the package next to the
Ancient Badger and links out.

Veronica and Grizz entered the
passageway, carefully avoiding the areas on the floor
where the fungus grew in large clumps, its soft green
light illuminating their way. The air was thick and
humid, small particles of spores could be seen floating
in the air. Slipping on the floor, Veronica braced
herself against the wall and discovered it was not
solid, but spongy...rather like...
The smell of
the place finally registered. "Does it smell like
mushrooms to you?"
From the Diary of FM - Explorer of
the Badger Age HEEEEEELP
MEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Okay, so here's the deal...I
escaped from the Evil Dr Osmo without a hitch, but then
was ambushed by mutated badgers as I went to hide in a
convenient mushroom until I could get to my Relto..and
the spears were kinda ineffective, which makes me wonder
why WE are fearing those spears if they break so
easily.
Anyway, I'm now in a cell...which
actually isn't too bad, nice and cushy, with a DVD
player and a VHS player and a nice collection of tapes
that seemed to belong to a Kurt Russell fan...there's
also a lot of food here and...why was it I was asking
for help again? I could actually stay here for quite a
while...they even have all this anti-bacteria stuff,
I've requested one of their anti-algae hats which they
say will arrive on tuesday.
Anyway, some "Ancient
One" came and talked to me for a little while the other
day, until they saw the INSANE stamp on my hand, then
they kinda left in a hurry, dunno what all the fuss is,
maybe their regulations don't let them imprison insane
people against their will, guess I'll find out another
day.
Anyway, if you find this, remember that all
people whose names have a "DR" in it on this age are
EVIL, and that the badgers are quite friendly and the
rooms are very nice once you get over the bars and the
fact that you can't leave the
room...

"Teledahn." They both spoke at the same
time and laughed. As they made their way down the
passageway, the tunnel grew smaller and smaller, so that
they were forced to crouch as they walked. This was not
a problem for Veronica, who was not very tall, but Grizz
was getting uncomfortable. She glanced back at him to
say, "Hang on, I think it opens up more up ahead." She
was wrong.
"Grizz." She shook her head. "Looks
like we have to crawl from here, but the question
is...do we go to the left or the right?" In the soft
green light of the cave, two narrow openings could be
seen.
Grizz gets down and sticks his head into
the right opening, listening and sniffing. Then he backs
out, and repeats the process in the left opening. Again
he backs out, and crouches on his heels,
thinking.
"Doesn't seem to be any differenc in
them. But you can't see very far either way. No telling
what we're likely to find in either passage."
He
muses for a moment. Then he fumbles around in his
pocket, and comes out with a small pocket knife. He
removes his socks, which have dried now. The floor isn't
rough or sharp, so for now there is no worry about his
feet.
Taking one of the socks, he carefully
searches the top until he finds a good spot. With the
little scissors in the knife (Swiss Army Knife of
course) he snips the yarn of the sock, takes the loose
end, and begins to unravel it. He looks around, and
finding a small twig on the floor, he ties the yarn to
it, and jambs it into a crevice in the wall near the
floor, and near the opening on the right. At least they
will be able to find their way back to this spot. He
wonders how much yarn there is in two socks.
He
grins at Veronica, proud of the way she has shown such
initiative and no fear at all, except when he scared her
himself. He nods at the right opening and say, "Lead the
way. I'll be right behind
you."
