she thought. She then looks at the diagram that
Thietris gave her. What the heek are these? she
wonders. She looks at Merlin. "Well, I see you met
MrD, but it doesn't look like he's joining us this trip,
unless he wants to come in later on. Now, I just need to
find Dr Warrell, FM, and Grassie... have you seen any of
them? Rumor has it that FM was around here the other day
but he has disappeared," Speedy said to Merlin. "Oh,
and do you happen to know any of the names of these
animals on this diagram?" she asked Merlin as she showed
him the diagram.

Suddenly, making his late appearance, is
the infamous Dr Warrell! He looked around frantically as
he turned beet red and panting for breath. He had gotten
word about this open house a ways back but since he was
still in the middle of testing the local water system,
he lost all track of time and therefore, he ran to make
it to the end of the open house (typical scientists!
) "Well, there is
someone!" Speedy said as she saw Dr Warrell. Dr
Warrell managed to find Cruiser and gave her a word of
congradulations. Speedy tapped him on the shoulder and
Dr Warrell turned around quickly. "Oh, Speedy! You
scared me! How are you?" he asked. "I'm doing well.
I'm going on another expedition in the next few days and
I was wondering if you wanted to join the team," Speedy
asked. Dr Warrell was stunned. This was as close as
he's ever gotten to a real date since no female of any
creature has ever asked him to join them on
something! "What kind of expedition is this?" he
asked, "Nothing to do with badgers or other strange
creatures, right?" Speedy held her tongue and thought
for a split second. "No, nothing like the badger
expedition," she said as she hid the diagram behind her
back. "Well,... what kind of thing is this?" he
asked. "Thietris asked us to check out the place and
see what it holds for future explorers. You can do
numerous organic chemistry experiments over there!"
Speedy said with a smile. "Hrmm... organic
chemistry..." Dr Warrell said as he stroked his
chin. "And we have someone else who is joining us! Dr
Warrell, meet Merlin," Speedy said as she pulled up
Merlin for the introduction. "Umm... hi,..." Merlin
said. "Oh hello... what about Grassie, MrD, and FM?"
asked Dr Warrell. "I still need to find them. Are you
interested in joining us?" Speedy asked. "Um... ok,
but I need to go to the DISCO first," he said. "No
problem. So do we!" Merlin said. "Great!" Speedy said
with a smile.

Veronica was busy gathering the last of
the supplies that she and Grizz would need for their
trip. "Let's see here, fig newtons...check...chocolate
for me...check...extra blanket for me...check...water
bottle for me...check...truffles for me...check..." She
looked up to see Speedy, Merlin and Dr. Warrell walking
into the store.
Veronica checks the catalogue for the
deep woods on and off products. She still does not
understand the nature of the items. She remembered when
Almech had first asked her deep woods on and she thought
he was mocking her.
She feels someone very close
to her and looks up to see Dr. Warrell standing shoulder
to shoulder with her. "Was there something else you
wanted, Dr.
Warrell?"
Dr Warrell's face turned a deep red when
Veronica talked to him directly. Speedy saw this,
silently groaned, and spoke up. "We need film,
flashlights, cameras, backpacks, and an organic
chemistry environmental kit for Dr Warrell here. Also,
can you get a good hiking backpack for Merlin here? Oh,
and I guess three journals and pens and pencils to go
witht them," Speedy said. "Sure, we have all of
those... um... just give me a moment to find them,"
Veronica said, as she gave Dr Warrell a weird look. He
never seems to talk whenever she is around and his face
always turns red... she shook her head as she turned
away. Dr Warrell slapped himself when Veronica left
the counter. "Seriously, you need to get the nerves
to at least say hi to her," Speedy muttered as she
crossed her wings.

Veronica stopped and turned around when
she realized there was no way for her to carry
everything. She called down the aisle, "Dr. Warrell,
would you mind giving me a hand?"
Dr. Warrell
looked at Speedy and she just gave him the look, you
know the one . He reluctantly left
the counter and went to help Veronica gather the
supplies.
Veronica and Dr Warrell eventually came
back with all of the stuff that Speedy, Merlin, and Dr
Warrell had asked for. "Anything... else?" she
panted. Wow, that is a lot of gear, she
thought. Speedy checked. "I don't think
so..." "Did you get that rope I mentioned?" asked
Merlin. "Oh, I didn't hear that... hold on..."
Veronica said as she left again. "Is there anything
else you need, Dr Warrell?" asked Speedy, "so I can ask
Veronica if you can't speak again," Dr Warrell glared
at Speedy. Veronica came back with the rope. "Ok,
is that all?" she asked. "Actually..." Dr Warrell
started, and Veronica looked at him. If he dyed his hair
to a dark brown and got rid of those grey hairs, he
would look nicer, Veronica thought. Dr Warrell stared
at Veronica. He lost all capabilities of
speaking. Speedy groaned again and she quickly poked
him in the side. "Ow!" Dr Warrell said. "The lady
asked you a question..." Speedy said with a slightly
annoyed voice. Merlin just chuckled over everything
that is going on. This is going to be some
adventure. "Umm... I was... um... wondering... if..."
Dr Warrell started again. Veronica continued to stare
at Dr Warrell. Finally... "if you... had... um...
seen MrD, Grassie or FM around?" Dr Warrell finished.
Phew, he thought. Wow, he actually said a sentence,
Veronica and Speedy thought. "Actually, I saw FM over
at WHOOPS earlier, filling out some forms for a plant
delivery to his house. I bet he's still there. Anything
else I can do?" Veronica asked. "Nope, that's all.
Thanks for the information on FM," Speedy said as she
paid for the stuff.

Speedy turned to Merlin. "Hey, I can
fly. Why would you need a hook? Besides, the picture of
it I have shows that there are a few pathways anyways.
We'll be fine," Speedy said as she collected the bought
items.

Veronica began to worry that Grizz had
changed his mind. She picked up the DRC linking book that was on the shelf
behind the counter and opened the cover. She could just
take a quick peek. It wouldn't hurt, would it? She
checked to be sure she had her Relto book on her hip.
Worrying her lower lip, she decided she should at least
leave a note for Grizz.
Dear Grizz, I'm
sorry I just could not wait any longer. I won't go far,
I promise! If I get into trouble, don't worry I have my
Relto book with me. See you there! Veronica
She picked up her backpack and looked for a
safe place to put the note where Grizz would be sure to
see it. In her enthusiasm to start exploring, she did
not realize that as she swung the backpack across her
shoulders, the weight of it bumped against her side with
enough force to knock her Relto book to the floor. She
stood with the note in her hand for several minutes,
trying to decide where to put
it.
Speedy, Dr Warrell, and Merlin all
carried their gear in their backpacks (and with
persuasion, Speedy let Merlin get 3 hooks for the
rope). "So, can we link out now?" asked Merlin
excitedly. "Calm down, kid. I still have yet to hear
from the others," Speedy said. "And I don't want to
leave anyone behind," "Oh come on, let's just go
already," Dr Warrell moaned. Speedy gave Dr Warrell a
weird look. "Well, look who's excited to
go..." "PLEASE???????" said Dr Warrell and Merlin
together. "After we get food at the egg room! We
don't need to get poisoned again from eating the wrong
plants," Speedy sighed. "YAY!" said Merlin and Dr
Warrell as they gave each other high fives. Then those
three headed over to the egg room to get
food.

Kestryll links in and immediately
checks on his staff. He holds a brief whispered
conversation with several of the Bahro. He smiles and
pats one on the shoulder, then spins around and, smiling
at the few people still left, he heads down to the
DISCO.
He issues a cheery, 'Good evening' to
Speedy, Dr. Warrell and Merlin then turns to Veronica
and grins.
Evening Veronica! Just dropping by
to let you know that I've got just a few more things to
do tonight, but then I'll be by to mind the store first
thing in the morning for you and Grizz. Okies?
