Bren returns with the other four Bahro
and the Lewis and Clarks. The Lewis and Clarks are
directed to Professor Thietris office for a further
exploration mission. The Bahro rather
reluctantly continue on to the community room for their
E&B lessons.
Veronica is dreaming again... ...well of course I can meet
you, how does 8 o'clock sound? *giggle*
She
sits straight up in her sleeping bag with an
overwhelming desire to return to the Institute
immediately...if not sooner. "Oh heek, just another
dream."
Grizz, turned over, grumbling and
grumping. He tried to settle, but it was no use. He
turned back over to glare at Veronica, who was sitting
there with a glazed look on her face, like she had
bitten into what she thought was an orange, only to find
that it was a lemon.
His frown turned to a grin.
Suddenly he felt good. He got up, and began to gather up
his gear, first going to retrieve the barriers, which he
deflated and stowed away in his pack. Then he came back
to Veronica, who was still looking a tad unhappy. He
nudged her foot with his toe.
"Come on
sleepyhead. Time to get up and get on with the
exploration. I'll prepare a little breakfast while you
pack up your gear."
Without another word, he went
to a rock near the camp site, took a can of Sterno from
his pack and placed it in a little frame that held a
pan.
OT: For those who may be wondering, Grizz
carries a big backpack. Really big.
He lighted
the sterno, and put a pan on the grill to heat. From his
pack he drew an insulated pouch, and from it he took
some eggs, minced ham, and a small packet of grated
cheese. He took a small pat of butter (real butter, not
that fake stuff) put it in the pan. When it was right,
he dumped in the ham and stirred it around until it was
just browning. He cracked four eggs into the ham, and
stirred them well. Just before they were done, he dumped
in the grated cheddar. With a final stir or two, when
the cheddar was just beginnig to melt, he took the pan
from the grill, and capped the sterno.
He
divided the scrambled eggs into two equal portions,
putting them into two metal plates. He carried one to
Veronica, who was just strapping up her pack after
clearing the camp site.
"Breakfast," he said,
giving her the plate and a fork.
He got his own,
and sat on the ground to eat.
When they were
done, Veronica held out her empty plate, as if she
thought he would take it. Instead, he handed her his
plate and fork.
"I cooked," he said, grinning
that grin. "Guess who gets to clean
up?"

"I think we should have
a quick group meeting..." Speedy said, backing up. FM
caught her drift. "Yeah, that makes sense, to determine
what we are going to do now... come on Merlin, Grassie,
and Dr Warrell," FM said as he walked off with
Speedy. The whole group, minus the new explorers,
went over near the bed and talked quietly. "What
should we do about the new guys?" asked FM. "Well,
they are explorers..." Grassie said. "Yes, but is it
really worth it for us to tell them how we got here and
everything else?" Speedy asked. "We can have them
join us..." Merlin suggested. "I don't know about
these guys," FM said. "Come on, how much harm can
they do?" asked Dr Warrell innocently. Suddenly,
there was a crash. Everyone turned around and saw
Speedy's bag had been tipped over, pilling out all of
the contents in it. Lewis looked at them
sheepishly. "Sorry, I was looking for food. I'm
starving," he said, doing his best puppy face. Speedy
groaned silently. What on earth are they going to do
with them, she wondered. Suddenly, music blared the
air... a saxophone began to play fast sticcado
notes. Lewis and Clark screamed. "NOOOO! THEY
FOUND US!" they yelled as they began to run around as if
someone had pressed fast forward. "Oh no! My
equipment!" Dr Warrell said as he dashed for his bag
that was on the ground. In the process of this, Dr
Warrell collided with the explorers, knocking them over
while Dr Warrell fell in the opposite direction. "Dr
Warrell! You okay?" asked Grassie as he came
over. "Yes, I am... but where are the others?" he
asked as he looked around. FM looked and dropped his
jaw. The linking book to someone's Relto was open on the
floor. It more than likely fell from Speedy's
backpack. "They linked out!" FM said. "What?"
asked Merlin. "To where?" asked Speedy as she looked
at the book. "I don't know... is that yours, Merlin?"
asked FM. "It looks like it..." Merlin said. "Is
there an easy way for them to get back to the
instituion?" asked Speedy as she looked into the
book. "Yeah, there is a book to D'ni right in the
linking area..." Merlin said. "But are they smart
enough to find it and use it?" asked Grassie. "Hey
did you hear that?" asked Dr Warrell. "No, what?"
asked Speedy. "EXACTLY! That music isn't playing
anymore! It stopped when I hit the ground..." Dr Warrell
said. "Oh man, I liked that music," FM
pouted.

Day
53: Well, it looks like I'm going on another
expedition! Hurrah! This time, it is not for some silly
purpose of rescuing someone who was eventually released.
Instead, I going to be able to test out the plant life
in this new age called Negilahn, a jungle place. This
should prove fascinating and for once, there is some
sort of logic around here.
Day
55: We've linked into this Negilahn. It is amazing
the different kinds of flora that exist in this dark
place. No rain showers yet, but I realize now that we
didn't bring any rain gear...
Day 56: I
got my first plant sample today. It is some sort of vine
that Speedy flew into while exploring the upper canopy
of the jungle. While finding this vine, Speedy saw some buildings in the
trees, saying they look much like something called
'Channelwood'. While checking out the vine, I almost got
the group! Note to self: ask Speedy about this
Channelwood. 2nd Note to Self: stay with the
group. Merlin and Grassie found a house to stay in.
It was originally locked, but somehow Merlin got a key
for it... 3rd Note to Self: ask Merlin on where he
found the key.
Day 57: What a
strange day. First of all, these explorers who called
themselves Lewis and Clark (2 sets? I am not quite
sure...) came to our door. Then is weird music came on
that made them run amok, (and they almost destroyed my
chemistry set!) and then they disappeared. We think they
linked into Merlin's Relto. Oh! And before that, we
saw this HUGE bug! It must have been about 30 meters
tall! We managed to spray ourselves with OFF stuff and
it didn't see us... BUT! I was told that there were NO
BIG ANIMALS in this place! Apparently, the others knew
about this and didn't tell me! Some
trust!

After everything is cleaned up at last,
and the camp left as clean as it was found. Grizz and
Veronica walk on down the path into the hills side by
side.
If you listen closely, you might pick up a
suggestion of "Valderi, Valdera, with my knapsack on my
back..."

{Ghost Stellaflora goes out into the
fountain courtyard looking for Professor Thietris to
tell him about the results of the Cloth comparisons,
when he notices a poster has been stuck to the wall
under one of the windows of the lab:
He turns
around to sit beside the fountain and notices a video
clip advertising the film has been uploaded to the
imager on the wall:
Ghost
Stellaflora decides to sit on the side of the fountain
to watch and wander where the Professor has got
to.}
Oh not again!
Lewis peered in through Professor T's doorway. Clark,
and a motley group of hangers on, stood behind, also
peering in (rather rudely, Professor T
thought).
"Yes?" asked the professor.
"Our
friends here have kindly agreed to accompany us to the
surface. They advise that we travel to St Louis and then
up the Missouri River by boat."
"Do you think
that's wise?" said Clark doubtfully. Lewis cuffed him
with his hat.
"Farewell, professor!" said Lewis.
One of the Bahro (it was either Barry, Barry, or Barry)
conveniently produced a Bahro stone, and it wasn't long
before they'd all linked out. Clark was the last to go.
He seemed reluctant, but after a resigned shrug he
eventually touched the Bahro stone and
vanished.
And that was the last anyone ever saw
of them. Phew!
Kestryll links in to resupply the food
in the egg room, Cruiser has told him of the Bahro
etiquette and beauty course in the Community room and
has anticipated a large group for meal time. As the
smell of food wafting down the hallways has alerted the
Bahro, they are getting restless waiting to gorge
themselves with goodys.
A
shifty figure carring a tray of sasages in buns and a
large pile of posters walks up to Cordelia: [CMOT Dibbler] "There
you are, the star of the show, the lady of the moment.
I'm your new manager and I have big plans, stick with me
and you will go far, if you would be so kind as to put
your autograph there I'll be delighted to manage all
your busniness afairs.
Signs the peice of paper Dibbler hands to here. "Ok, who
is it for? Let me guess, your nephew?"
"That would do nicely! No,
it's your contract, don't worry about it, I'll take care
of everything. Here, I have a pile of Promotional
Posters for you to sign for the gullible publi- er, I
mean, for your devoted fans of course"
The instructor for the etiquette class
tell the Bahro,"I expect each and everyone of you to be
on your best behavior, you may now proceed to the
eggroom for your meal." The Bahro stand and chitter
back and forth for a few seconds and then all try to get
out the door at the same time. "Oh dear what have I
gotten myself into" says the instructor as he waits for
the outcome, pacing the floor.
Speedy and Grassie finished cleaning up
after what the Lewis and Clarks had tipped
over. "Sheesh, I'm glad they're gone," Speedy said
with a sigh. "Ok, so where do we go now?" asked
Grassie as he put a backpack upright. "I would still
like to see the Channelwood-tree buildings," said
FM. "Yes, those were indeed fascinating... um.. quick
question, what is Channelwood?" asked Dr
Warrell. "It's an age where the inhabitants live up
in trees that are in the middle of some wetland,"
explained Grassie. "Ahh, ok," Dr Warrell said,
satisfied. "Should we bring more of that OFF stuff so
we can be hidden from those bugs again?" asked
Merlin. "It would be wise to... also bring the ropes,
hooks, cameras, and a journal with pencil," Speedy
said. "Mustn't forget the sandwiches! I'm hungry!"
said FM. "Fine, bring some food, but keep them in
that tupperware we have. We don't know exactly how keen
these animal's sense of smell is," Speedy said as she
got out her camera.
