FM yawned. My, what
an adventurous day, he thought. "How about we think of
what to do after a nap..." FM suggested as he sat
down. "I think you're right..." said Dr Warrell as he
sat down too and yawned. "It has been (yawn) and
adventurous day..." said Merlin as he sat down as
well. Grassie looked at everyone suspiciously. Speedy
yawned as well. "Oh my aching wings..." Speedy said as
she leaned against Grassie. "Oh no you don't..." said
Grassie as he pushed Speedy off of him. But Speedy
didn't react, so she got pushed in the other direction
and landed on the floor. "Oh no..." Grassie said as
he looked at Speedy and then the others. All of the
others had fallen asleep as well. It's got to be the
food... he thought, when suddenly, his limbs felt a
little tired. "What! I only had frosting!" he growled
as he shook out his limbs. That gave it some energy for
a little bit... but not for long. Grassie walked over
to the food and sniffed it. Hrm... it smells familiar...
he thought as he took a deep sniff. Oh gosh! Too much,
he thought as he fell backwards and landed on the
floor... but when that happened, he was
unconscious. Five minutes later, some shadows filled
the doorway. Beings being over 6 feet tall walked into
the room and picked up each of the forumites.
Communicating by only hand gestures, they carried the
forumites out of the room and into the
unknown...
Since his putt went in,
Chuckles58 won the match. Annika and Tigger gave him
high fives amazed at his skill at reading greens. They head over towards
the starter's hut. There is a little computer terminal
for recording scores. Chuckles entered their scores and
hit the "return" key.
Immediately, the three of
them were in the Golf Age clubhouse. They went over to a
table to sit and discuss the round. After enjoying a
root beer float, Chuckles announces that he needs to
run.
Did you
say run? You must be a big Uru fan. Run here, run there,
run run run!
Yes that's why I'm in
such good shape. It's been a fun day Tigger and Annie.
I've got a report to write. But first I need to take a
look at that kiosk again.
Tigger and Annika
went back outside to the driving range for a little more
practice. Chuckles flips through volume 1. Then he takes
a look at a few other volumes. Pebble Beach, Cypress
Point and Spyglass Hill, wow those are nice courses. As
he was putting the Carmel volume back he noticed a
little pocket sized volume with a linking window to the
Golf Age clubhouse inside the front
cover.
Hey, a portable Golf Outing Linking
Facilitator (GOLF). He dropped it into a large
envelope, addressed it to himself in Ae'gura, and put it
into the mailbox outside.
Content that he
understood how the Golf Age works, he calmly spoke
"Computer". The arch appeared again. He stepped
inside, pushed the "End Program" button.
He
materialized at his Magenta Planets workstation. He
checked outside the door to see if his secretary was
there, but it was afterhours. He went back to his desk
to fill out his report for Round. He looked for a pen or
pencil. There were only crayons. He decided to type his
evaluation for Round. Soon he hit the send button.
Fortunately he CC'd his WSA email address. He went over
to the corner of the room and walked around until the
"?" and "X" popped up. He stepped on the "X".
He
was sitting in the Bahro Entertainment Software Team
(BEST) office in Ae'gura. He removed the 3D Virtual
Reality head gear. The Bahro had already gone for the
day. He jotted a few notes down for the programmers, (B
flat and C sharp, if you're curious). He left word that
he would forward the evaluation of "The Golf Age" once
he got back to his office.
When he reached his
WSA office in Takotah Alley, he found that Kestryll had
delivered a package from Southern California. He quickly
opened the package ...
WILSON! Hey Chuckles, just thought
I'd come visit. By the way, do you have any
Advil?
Then he noticed a package on the floor
by the mail slot. He opened the package revealing the
portable Golf Outing Linking Facilitator.
I
bet Theitris and Cordelia will find this
interesting.

As the three make their way slowly
towards the cave opening, Grizz looks at Veronica who is
still holding the Professor and says, "Nica, you
really can put him down now, don't you
think?"
She looks down at the Professor and then
over her shoulder. "The snakes might come back," she
said, holding him closer.
Grizz puts his hand
over his face and pulls it down in exasperation,
thinking the Professor must be thoroughly embarrassed by
Veronica's exuberance.
Veronica looks at Grizz
and then down at the Professor, then back at Grizz
again. "Oh alright!" She leans over to put him down,
then the Professor says, "I really loathe snakes." She
clutches him to her again and glares at
Grizz.
The two on foot and the one being
carried approached the one waiting by the mouth of the
cave just a little nervously. It seemed all right, but
this was still a strange age, and he was rather an
impressive size for a.... Now what exactly was he? He
looked like he might be a distant relative of the
professor, but what a size.
He (well, it just
seemed that 'he' was correct somehow.) waited patiently.
When they got close, he sat down on the rocks near the
entrance, and invited them to do likewise.
Grizz
and Veronica found spots nearby, and the professor
climbed down from Veronica's arms and sat up alertly on
the ground between the 'stranger and the explorers.
When they were seated, he
spoke.
"Welcome," he said. "I've been
expethpecting you. Or at leatht I thuppothe it ith you
that I've been exthpecting. My thcoutth have been
tracking you for dayth. You are the firtht new
exthplorerth to come here thinthe the DRthee clothed the
cavern. Hath it been opened again?"
(Well. This
was certainly interesting and somewhat unexpected. There
was apparently quite a bit going on in this age that the
new citizens in the Institution were totally unaware
of...not the least of which was the presence of this
well spoken and quite thivilithed...erm exthcuse ...
drat! civilized being, with a set of most impressive
teeth. And he theemed... dang it! seemed to know all
about
them.)

"Sank you - I mean thank you," answered
Professor T. "This is Grizz and his companion Veronica.
I am Professor Thietris. Yes, the cavern is open to
explorers, even though the DRC are no longer there.
Perhaps you could tell us your name and something about
this Age?"
The being laughed. "Don't worry about
thlipth of the tongue. It happenth all the time around
me. I'm uthed to it. With teeth like thith, I had better
be. I am C'nomy. I am of a race that inhabited thith age
from the beginning. We have alwayth been ground
dwellerth. We have a culture and a civilithathon of our
own. When the DRthee found the book to thith age, we
were dithcovered again. We made friendth when we could.
When the DRthee left, they gave me the authority to
overthee the age. But I have a more important role to
play ath
well."

The three explorers looked at one
another thinking, well is he going to tell us about this
"more important role" or is he going to keep us all in
thuthpenderth?
Grizz looked at the others in the group
and shrugged. He decided to try to move things along
himself.
"Ah... C'nomy was it? Fine. Could you
explain about this other role you were talking about
please?"
"Yeth, of courthe. I tend to go off into a
thtate whenever I think of her. Oh, and of couthe you
don't know who I mean. I am talking about Yeetha. Thee
came to thith age many yearth ago now, and talked to me.
Thee told me that thee wath going to put a thpethial
link in thith age. It'th thpethial propertieth would
therve ath a thort of tetht, a kind of filter, to weed
out thothe who were not thuitable for the next part of
the journey.
Tho thee did jutht that. Down the
firtht right hand branch in thith cave (he pointed
behind him to the cave mouth) ith a deep pit. Thothe who
can thee whatth in the bottom of the pit are invited to
uth the link. For thothe who can't thee it, nothing will
happen. Thee told me what kind of people to look for to
take thith tetht. Tho far, there have been only three
otherth, and only two from your own age. All three went
into the cave, and none came back thith way. You three
have met the firtht tethts. It ith now up to you whether
you will accept Yeetha'th challenge, or go back the way
you came."
When C'mony finithed... curses!!
Finished speaking, he sat quietly without looking at any
of the three in the group. The choice was theirs now, to
take the challenge, or to go back by Relto book to thier
own
age.

OT: "Sir! The unknowns have been
captured!" "Good knave! Where are they
now?" "Being transported through the tunnels...
waiting to hear your word on where they should

Grizz sat for a moment. He looked at
Veronica and Thietris in turn.
"Well," he said.
"It can't hurt to take a look anyway. Maybe we won't see
anything at all. But I've made up my mind to look.
Veronica, are you going in to look at
least?"
Veronica looked at Grizz with wide eyes.
She nodded. The fact that she didn't start rattling off
a list of questions told him more than she
knew.
He turned to the professor.
"Are you
with us Professor? Shall we see what's in
there?"
